Transportation
Living within three hours of four major US cities, transportation is my first trip planning consideration. How do I get there? I do not recommend bringing your car to Manhattan as the parking is wildly expensive if you can even find it. We chose to drive to Secaucus, NJ and park at the Secaucus Junction train station. A 10-minute train ride later, we were at Madison Square Garden/Penn Station in downtown Manhattan. Parking for two days in NJ was about $60 and the train cost $4 each way per person.
Recommendation: Use NYC taxi’s rather than ride hailing apps like Uber and Lyft. The cost is much lower and with taxi’s everywhere, we never had to wait. Surviving the ride is joy#1.
Accommodations

The Dominick is one of many five-star hotels located in Soho. This location is perfect for walks along the Hudson River, shopping on Broadway and sliding over to Greenwich Village for dinner. Our room was gorgeous with views of the Brooklyn Bridge and big swaths of the city. Because it’s a Virtuoso property, we had access to room upgrades, hotel credits and other VIP perks. The hospitality at The Dominick was outrageous.
Recommendation: You have the same access as I do to Virtuoso benefits - see my post about this here. Check with us at Cloudburst Travel Company if you are interested in booking this or any other Virtuoso property in NYC. Also, if you stay at the Dominick, walk a block down the street to La Colombe Coffee Roasters for the best latte in NYC.
“London is satisfied, Paris is resigned, but New York is always hopeful.”
Food & Entertainment
The show we saw on Broadway was CHESS. When my brother told me the plot, I was not very hopeful. I was so wrong! The performances were outstanding and Lea Michele really is the star of the show.

Waiting outside the famous Imperial Theater on Broadway in NYC
Dinner was at an Italian restaurant called Morandi. The food was joyful and decor so charming. This is a great place for celebrity sitings too!
Recommendations: You must have reservations for a sit-down restaurant in NYC. Otherwise, you have great options like Los Tacos No. 1 | Taquerias. One evening we had a blast standing outside with everyone else eating our spicy tacos on the sidewalk.
No matter where you are, I can create an itinerary for a weekend away. After spending years in London, San Francisco, Miami and elsewhere, I know how to put a fun weekend together for groups, couples or families.
