What do you see in the cover photo?
Certainly, we don’t see a lovely, manicured golf course. I see culture, colors rarely seen in my country, tenderness, style (her skirt is so beautiful), warm sun, spicy food smells. I could go on but you get it! At Cloudburst we design the trip you want to take, but we also encourage you to enjoy these beautiful, exotic destinations. Golf and adventure are our focus, but in a world of adrenaline-driven activities, I encourage you to go deeper.
The core pillars of slow travel

Pacing Over Planners: You don't try to see everything. You might spend an entire morning sitting at a single café reading and people-watching, rather than rushing through three different courses in two days.
Local Immersion: Staying in residential neighborhoods, shopping at local markets, and supporting independent businesses in addition to major international chains.
Sustainable Mindset: Because you are moving less between destinations, you naturally reduce your carbon footprint. Slow travelers often prefer trains, buses, or walking over frequent short-haul flights.
Quality over Quantity: The goal is to come home feeling rejuvenated and deeply acquainted with a culture, rather than exhausted from the logistics of constant transit.

“Cloudburst Travel (Sherri Hankal) organized my most recent golf vacation to Kiawah Island, South Carolina. Not only were the accommodations great but the golf courses were absolutely breathtaking!! I would definitely use her for my next trip.”
Golf in the voice of slow travel
When golf travel is paired with a slow travel mindset, the itinerary shifts away from a chaotic "one-and-done" tour of scattered courses. Instead, the focus turns to destinations with a dense concentration of world-class layouts where you can unpack once, stay for a week or more, and immerse yourself in the local community, culture, and scenery between rounds. Here are some quick suggestions:
Destination | Courses | More than golf |
|---|---|---|
St Andrews | Seven public tracks of the St Andrews Links trust, plus historic regional gems nearby like Crail, Elie, and Lundin Links. | Entirely walkable. You can carry your clubs to the starter's box from a rented local stone cottage, pick up fresh morning pies from a local baker, and spend evenings walking the West Sands beach. |
Portugal's Algarve region | A massive concentration of championship courses, including the world-renowned tracks in Vilamoura (like the Victoria and Old Course), the luxury resort layouts of Quinta do Lago, and the scenic pine-lined fairways of Vale do Lobo. Pinehurst | Dramatic limestone cliffs, Atlantic views, and relaxed fishing villages offer an incredible backdrop for golfers who want to balance days on the greens with slow, coastal living. |
Pinehurst (North Carolina) | The historic resort features ten distinct 18-hole courses anchored by Donald Ross’s legendary No. 2, complemented by the nearby historic pine-infused fairways of Pine Needles and Mid Pines. | The historic village is highly integrated with the golf facilities, allowing you to walk or take short golf cart rides between your accommodations, the courses, and local independent shops. |
Hilton Head (South Carolina) | HHI boasts more than twenty championship courses, including the famed Harbour Town Golf Links and multi-course resort enclaves like Palmetto Dunes. | When you aren't on the fairways, you can kayak through tranquil saltwater marshes, buy fresh shrimp directly from local docks, or sit beneath moss-draped live oaks listening to local musicians. |
